Winter Flame 2024

This year’s “Winter Flame” is going to be bigger and better than all previous years. If you were there in 2023, you won’t want to miss it in 2024.

If you missed out, make sure you don’t miss it this year and put the date in your calendar now and be sure to tell all your friends!! Multiple Scottish Pipe Bands, Highland Dancers, Highland Strongmen and women, all playing and marching down the main street of Tanunda surrounded by people carrying flaming torches.

There are limited opportunities for people who would like to be involved in the parade, either marching with us or carrying a flaming torch.

Get in touch with us if you are interested and we will find a role for you.

šŸŽµ 5 Fun Facts You Might Not Know About a Pipe Band šŸŽµ
(Yes, we do know we're loud… and proud of it! šŸ˜Ž)
1ļøāƒ£ We don’t start on bagpipes!
New pipers begin on a ā€œpractice chanterā€ – basically a quiet mini pipe that lets us learn our notes and embellishments without terrifying the neighbours.
2ļøāƒ£ Drummers aren’t just keeping time.
Snare, tenor, and bass drummers are each doing something completely different – together. It’s like musical multitasking with sticks, flourishes, and flair! šŸ’„šŸ„
3ļøāƒ£ Our uniforms are basically wearable history.
Tartan kilts, hose flashes, sporrans… each piece has tradition behind it. Yes, even that funny thing hanging from the waist has a purpose.
4ļøāƒ£ We tune… a LOT.
Before every performance, there’s a sacred ritual of tuning. Expect lots of squeaky sounds, confused looks, and a ā€œjust a little bit moreā€ from the Pipe Major.
5ļøāƒ£ We’re one big family.
From kids learning their first notes to veterans who’ve played for decades – community pipe bands like ours thrive on camaraderie, laughter, and shared love for the music. ā¤ļø
